Experience Real Dutch Life and Enjoy It!
Being an international student or international professional you may feel like being on a roller coaster some time. A new country, new people, new customs, a new language. You work or study, have a social life and family and friends back home. As exciting it sounds, at some point you may feel that it is all too much to cope with. Being everywhere and nowhere may cause you to feel less connected to your surroundings.
Get to know real Dutch life and culture
I talked a lot with expats in the Netherlands. Some of them work so hard that they hardly have time to take part in Dutch life. I also met quite a few international students who came here with the greatest plans to indulge in Dutch life. Some of them ended up being by themselves most of the time or hanging around with other internationals. They only experienced a fraction of real Dutch life. A terrible waste of what could have been an unforgettable Dutch experience.
Getting to know more about Real dutch life in the Netherlands, the Dutch, their language and culture, will help you to get more connected to the life around you and to really enjoy your time in the Netherlands. Since you decided to be in the Netherlands, you had better make the most of your time here, wouldn’t you agree? In my view, that is only possible if you build a strong fundament first. Let me explain.
Learn to use Dutch
Learning to use Dutch is one of the most powerful means to build a solid basis for your life in the Netherlands. As I discussed in one of my previous posts, taking a Dutch course is only one way to accomplish this. And, if you decide to take a Dutch course, please realise that not every course will suit you. Therefore, take your time to see what is out there.
Find out what you really need and want. Talk to other internationals who have already taken Dutch courses, visit open days, attend introduction classes, etc. Do anything to get a clear idea of the types of Dutch courses that are available and how they relate to your needs and wants.
Take a free Dutch course
Because I understand how difficult it can be difficult to choose a suitable Dutch course from the wide variety of Dutch courses out there, I designed a free Dutch course to help you make your decision. In the free Dutch course you are introduced to my task-based, blended language learning approach.
Last but not least, please share with me by leaving a comment below what you would like to deal with in your Dutch course and why. That way I can make sure to offer you what you need.
